In the United States, over 70% of all freight is transported by trucks, and a significant portion of the remaining 30% also relies on truck transportation for its components at some point. Practically every product we purchase is brought to a retailer, wholesaler, restaurant, corner store, or any business by a truck. These trucks are operated by the unsung heroes of our economy: truck drivers. Their work is tireless and often goes unnoticed. They spend long stretches of time on the road, navigating our country’s strained infrastructure and dealing with various challenges such as weather and traffic that the rest of us, driving smaller vehicles, contribute to. Without their hard work, our economy would grind to a halt. We may recall the days of empty store shelves and a shortage of everyday items like toilet paper, and it’s important to realize that those days would return without these hardworking individuals who have chosen this career.

September 15 – 21, 2024 is recognized as National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. This designated period provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the daily efforts of truck drivers, but it’s important to acknowledge that appreciation should be shown to these individuals at all times, not just during one week.

Thank you, truck drivers. Stay safe out there, and know that we appreciate the vital role you play in our nation’s well-being!
